Thursday morning...

Good morning everyone. As you´ve read already, dad came out of surgery early this morning. When the doctors got in there, they discovered that the lack of blood flow had caused most of his upper colon to die. The removed the damaged tissue and set up a colostomy, which will most likely be in place for at least 8 months to a year.

The doctors feel that dad can now get back to his recovery without them having to focus so much effort on his digestion problems. His blood pressure and kidneys are continuing to improve. Dad is still being treated for the pneumonia and they plan on continuing to remove fluid from the lung. Dad still isn´t ¨awake¨ but they think he may start coming out of the heavy sedation later today.

I honestly can´t focus myself much more so I´m going to call it quits here. Haverly will probably update later today since she actually slept some last night.

Until later,

Frazier

Thanks so much for the updates. Like many, I have been checking these on an absurdly regular basis, and was so relieved to hear that things had gone well. I know Dean feels your strength and is so proud of all of you. I hope and pray that everyone has a restful day.

Sorry to hear about all the complications but it sounds like the docs have a good handle on things and the prognosis is good... must be frustrating but at least theres an explanation and a great outlook. Thanks for the updates our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
