Beginning of a new week

Sometimes, the changes in Dean's status are so minute that we don't post a blog entry. We want to reassure you that when we go 2 or 3 days without a posting, things are copacetic. Nothing has changed for the worse; nothing has changed significantly for the better. You have been on a long, arduous journey with us and we will keep you informed of all the ups and down.

With that said, Dean sat in a chair for 4-5 hours today! He can't get to the chair by himself, but he was sitting up.

And, he passed his swallow test! This is the first time since Jan 15. He needs to pass several more before he can have food or drink. But he passed!!!!

Bill has been doing leg exercises with him and arm stretches. The physical therapists appreciate anything we can do. It's more rewarding than just standing by his bedside watching him.

Dean keeps asking for his cell phone, more wanting to know where it is, because he still can't talk so that you can hear and understand him, and he is still not lucid all the time. Maybe in a week or two we will help him connect to his computer. Then he can send emails all day and night without waking you up.

This is week seven of Dean's surgery and recovery. Thank you for being with us all the way. Linda, Bill, Haverly and Frazier

Thanks again for the great news. We check multiple times a day even though we might not send a message. You are in our constant thoughts and we send prayers your way. Much love and admiration for all of what you are doing. You live the definition of what a family is. Love, Kathy and Chip

This is really great news! And thanks for the info about how when we don't hear from you, it means things are okay. It sets my mind at ease.

I hope that in addition to Dean sleeping, you as his support team are getting some significant sleep as well.

Sending lots of love your way,
