A Rough Two Days

Yesterday was a very rough day for Dean. All day long he was quite agitated and breathing with a great deal of effort. Sometimes it's hard to tell if he is having difficulty or if he is trying to breathe the same way he did pre-transplant. If you remember,he breathed from the very bottom of his toes. When I left he seemed more comfortable. We talked about Valentine Day surprises and watched that beautiful full moon.

In the middle of the night, Dean had another blood clot incident. Quick thinking nurses and doctors stabilized him. He is back on the vent, this time through the trache tube.

When Bill and I saw him this morning his color was good, he recognized us, and he was aware of the different tests that are being run. Tomorrow, or Thursday, Bill and I will meet with one of the doctors to discuss the bigger picture of all of Dean's organ systems. When we left this afternoon, Dean was snapping his toes. He remembers the exercises! That lifted our spirits.

And, Haverly will be home on Sunday for the President's Day weekend. That will definitely lift his spirits. (Frazier turned his ankle and has been on crutches and an air cast...and, he can't drive. And we think Cassi had strep throat. Hopefully, they will be able to come see Dean soon. These kids have a way with him.)

More, tomorrow.
