Hi everyone, today's update is unfortunately not so positive. Dad's blood pressure has been really low today and yesterday and they aren't quite sure why. Around noon today they put in another central line (which is where the infections had originally developed). Apparently this will allow them to get more accurate readings as they try to get to the bottom of this blood pressure issue. For us, it is just another thing that poor Dad has to endure. He has been zonked out today ever since I got here so I haven't really been able to communicate with him yet.
His stomach is distended so they have done an x-ray to try and figure that out. They also took new cultures today which will hopefully give us some info on these infections. It honestly feels like you are in the movie Outbreak coming in and out of his Isolation room. I can only imagine what he thinks when he sees all this garb.
Mom, Bill and Fra were curious to know my reaction as to his appearance since the last time I saw him. I think seeing him in February was a bigger shock to see how skinny and shrunken he looked. I was more prepared this time around. All of the sores on his face from the vent and breathing tubes have healed which always looked so painful. I see the picture on the front of the blog and know that one day he'll be that strong again, but it's clear he's got a very long road ahead. We're excited for the birthday celebrations next week and letting him know how much everyone has been thinking of him.
Enjoy the weekend

Thank you Haverly for the news. We feel so helpless but our thoughts are always with Dean and the rest of you. Continued prayers and good thoughts. Love to all Kathy and Chip
Welcome back Haverly. Always something new to deal with and you all step up so mightily. Nice to know there are smiles and new movements and that Dean can crack a smile and joke at times. Give all a hug.
Haverly, I send my deepest sympathies. It is so difficult to watch someone who's always been strong to be so weak. We are praying for you all. Remember, he WILL be his old self again, even better probably. Give him our love, and happy birthday wishes next week.
Hi everyone,
Each day is so different, never knowing what to expect, which we know is difficult for everyone. We send our prayers for continued recovery & stabilization. We especially look forward to a great 25th Birthday for Dean - wish we could be there in person!
Love, Rollie & Richard
