Another Procedure

You may remember Dean got an infection in his pik line in his neck. That pik line was removed and IV ports were inserted in his arm. Yesterday, the more permanent pik line (permanent until he no longer needs all that medicine by IV) was inserted in his arm. It did involve taking him into surgery, but he came through it well. The nurses even reported he was joking and teasing them.

After he returned to his room, Jerry, the respirator therapist, said he did really well during the procedure.

Dean still has the pacemaker repair to undergo...maybe today, maybe tomorrow. It is not emergency surgery so he has to wait his turn.

Today is St. Patrick's Day. You know if Dean could telephone you today, he would begin the day wishing you a happy St. Patrick's Day!

Dean once told me I had the "gift of Blarney" as we were trying to talk the town of Bennett into paving the streets. Wish I could come up with the right combination of "Blarney" and luck to speed Dean through the healing process. Luck of the Irish to you today and always!

I check this site every day and am so thankful for the thorough updates on Dean's condition. Glad to hear that he was joking with the nurses today...he does indeed have the gift of Blarney...I'm sure he was pouring it on in his own inimitable way!

Dear Dean, via your family,

Bill and I continue to hold you in our prayers. We hope you get to the Rehab Hospital soon. Tell your family to let us know if we can help out at the Boulder end, pick up or drop off Haverly at the airport, or whatever.

Love to you and the whole gang,
Mary and Bill
